Almost There

I  am just so excited for Jeremiah to come home. I cannot wait. Although it's only been two months since I've seen him, it feels like it's been an eternity!
I've almost got everything done in prep for him coming home. I have one more paper to write then I'm done with all my school work. I'm debating on whether or not to take some summer classes. I probably should, but I'm not sure if I want to. It's a lot of effort (ha)!  I think Jeremiah is taking a few so I'll probably end up taking a couple.
In the meantime, I've been babysitting for Jeremiah's aunt- she's got two twin 21-month old boys. They are just the sweetest. I love spending time with them & watching them learn. It's been keeping me busy & makes the day go by ten times faster than when I'm just being bored at home.
Jeremiah doesn't land until almost midnight on Friday, so it will make for a long day.
I'm so excited I just can't contain it!

Single Digits

Wow. We are finally in the single digit countdown to Jeremiah coming home!
I literally cannot wait.
In the meantime, I've found a project to keep myself busy (via Pinterest).

I freaking love these.
I have no idea who these people are, but I'm totally stealing their idea!

Gotta get my day started with a little Jillian Michaels then get supplies to start my project!
Happy Hump Day!

Easter Goodies! (& weekend recap)

I know, I know. I'm way too old for these Easter shenanigans- but I totally can't help it! I adore Easter (& Easter baskets), so this year I'm making Jeremiah a cute, cute, cute goodie basket. I don't think he's as into Easter as I am- but at least he puts up with my antics & let's me make him a basket!

First:
My inspiration was this little bunny- so adorable!

So the whole basket was basically centered around this!

Second:
It took me forever to pick out a basket- I didn't want to spend a fortune on one because I know he's totally just gonna toss it to the side. So I found the pictured basket for $1.99 at Wal-Mart (score!

Third:
I picked up some fillers:
An adorable card

Spongebob Krabby Patties
Astronaut Ice Cream (his favorite, impossible to find, snack)
A cute bunny cup (got myself a matching pink one)
Some Jelly Belly Jelly Beans
And a pack of Peeps (gotta have Peeps for Easter)

Fourth:

I broke down & got that little blue Polaroid camera I was in love with. Jeremiah & I both agreed we'd like to have one for this summer- but he doesn't know I got it! (hehe)
I also ordered him forty film strips- these little babies are not cheap
But you can't have a camera & no film.
I am so excited to put it into use this summer, it will make for some fun memories!

Fifth:
I added a little green faux grass & am considering throwing a little glitter on it (everything needs a little sparkle).

I hope you all had a blessed Easter holiday, I know we did! Yesterday, my church hosted their annual Easter egg hunt & we had a great turn out. The kids had such a great time, & we ended up with beautiful weather. Then today at our church we had an amazing baptism (I love that it was on Easter)! Afterwards, we headed to the grandparents houses' for Easter dinners.
This year was our first year without one of our grandfathers, he recently passed about three weeks ago- so this year was really hard not having him there. I was glad we were able to visit with my grandmother to give her some much needed comfort & company. That house will never feel the same without him.. But overall, it was a great day. Luckily, we are supposed to have nice weather from here on out- & Jeremiah will be home in twelve days!
I've got to get all my ducks in a row for his soon to be arrival!
Yay!
Enjoy what's left of your Easter weekend!

Five on Friday

Happy almost weekend, to you all! I'm so excited for the upcoming Easter celebrations! Easter is one of my very favorite holidays, not just because of the meaning- but because of all the cute bunnies & chicks that are everywhere! But let's get this show on the road:

One
Guess Factory is having an awesome sale today. I am totally in love with these Pentley Palazzo Pants. I've been eyeing them for a while & now they're finally on sale! I might just have to break down & buy them!

Two
This iFunny video has had me laughing for days now. I cannot stop watching it.

Three
I've really been into Polaroid cameras lately & I'm dying to have one. I've been researching a couple & found one on Amazon I am in love with. The shade of blue on this little baby has got me doing cart wheels!

Four
Jillian Michaels will kick your butt in her Six Week Six Pack dvd.

Five
I saw the cutest thing on Pinterest:
Step 1: Have your little munchkins place a few jelly beans in the yard Saturday night (the night before Easter)
Step 2: Sneak out & replace all the jelly beans with lollipops
Step 3: Watch their cute little faces light up on Easter morning!
When they realize their jelly beans have grown into lollipops, they'll be so excited! A great way to start off Easter morning!

Anyways- I'll try to do a post on Jeremiah's Easter basket. We decided to save our Easter gifts for when he get home- seeing as how he'll be here 12 days after- so excited!
Have a blessed weekend & Easter- please remember the reason we celebrate this joyous holiday.

The Final Countdown & Babies!

Eeek! I just can't believe it. The past two months have literally flown by. I cannot believe it's almost time for Jeremiah to be home for the entire summer! What are we gonna do with ourselves!? All that time together, four whole months! It makes me so happy just thinking about it! Anyways- Jeremiah will be home in 16 short, short days! I've got so much to do & so little time! My homework is piling up (I think I'm too distracted to do it!), I've got to get all the arrangements made for picking him up at the airport, & somehow find time for a pedicure! Plus, I'm trying to plan a special date for a couple days after he gets home. Not sure where we're going or what we're gonna do, but I want to do something nice (not too extravagant though).
Any ideas?
I'm thinking maybe a nice dinner at his favorite Japanese steakhouse & maybe a movie after? I'm dying to watch God's NOT Dead, but cannot find anyone to go with. Seriously, you don't realize just how many friends you don't have until your best friend leaves- then, you're a complete loner. Wah. I know he'd enjoy it, if he hasn't already watched it.. maybe he'd be willing to watch it again!
I cannot wait, I hope these next two weeks & two days go by even faster than the past couple of months. I am so excited to get this summer started (hopefully that part will go by really slow!)

Also, I thought I'd introduce my two babies-

Mr. Daisy

Miss Marly

(that's right, MR. Daisy)- he was a gift from Jeremiah, from the local animal shelter, all his papers said he was a girl, but when I took him to get spayed, they said he was a boy. So he was neutered instead. I loved his name & he honestly knows it. I couldn't bring myself to changing it- plus, he has no idea what his gender is.
Seriously, these cats are like my children. I love them so much. (I know, I sound like a total crazy cat lady).

We found Marly under Jeremiah's dad's house. The mother cat had a litter of three under there & when we went to check on them a couple of days later the mother had taken the other two kittens & left Marly (who was the runt). I did my research on runt kittens that had been left behind & came to the conclusion that the mother wasn't coming back. She left her because she knew she didn't have much of a surviving chance & decided to focus on her two healthy kittens.
I took Marly home with me, and the next day we visited the vet. She guessed she was close to one month old, but very, very weak. We knew it was going to take a lot of time & energy to take care of this kitten- but being the cat person that I am, I knew had to do it. So almost every three hours, every single night for weeks, I woke up & fed this sweet little creature. She was so young she could not go to the bathroom on her own, so the vet had showed us how to "stimulate" her (you've been warned if you choose to Google this). Her constant care was exhausting, but totally worth it in the end.
Thankfully, we had found her during the summer & I had the time to take care of her without worrying about her going hungry. As the weeks progressed so did my little MarMar. Today, she is a healthy little girl, who will celebrate her one year birthday in July. She's also a bit wild. The vet warned us that she is technically feral (a wild cat), so she would be feisty. Plus, she said that bottle fed kittens always had more attitude than a normal cat- let me say, I was not prepared for this attitude.
She is constantly climbing the curtains, drapes & window coverings. I cannot tell you how many curtain hooks she has ripped out of the wall, because she things she's an acrobat. Plus, she's destroyed at least three shower curtains, because she likes the sound they make. But, I love her anyways- & we've learned just to close all the doors in our house!

Daisy is the sweetest cat you'll ever meet in your life. He is a constant cuddle monster. He loves perching on his window seat & watching the birds eat out of their feeder. Oh, if only he could get out there (he & Marly are strictly inside cats). Unlike Marly, Daisy doesn't have a tragic background or any super exciting story. Jeremiah said he knew Daisy was the one because he was reaching his little paws out of the cage at the shelter, as if he was just begging for him to pick him. I totally believe that he just knew he was our perfect choice. You can tell he's almost three because he is so much more mature than little Marly.

I would be lost without my little pets & I think they would be, too. They provide me with so much comfort now that Jeremiah is gone. I am extremely thankful they were put into my life & I can't imagine how it would be without them (probably really boring & we'd have a lot more curtains!)

Care Packages

My first bit of advice is- don't over do it. My care packages were a bit over the top (& I think overwhelmed Jeremiah somewhat..), oh well- you live & you learn. I loved making my care packages, though. They're a super fun & easy was to show your special someone you're thinking of them!
I find that the dollar stores usually have the best deals on small, individual packaged items. Jeremiah enjoys the "cup noodles" & things like that; so the dollar store is def a place you can get those cheap. Plus, everyone knows the candy there is half the price it is at Target!

This is the first package I sent Jeremiah. I tried to include things he would need- but hadn't bought. Examples:
Band-Aids, Candy, Snacks, Lint Roller, Post-It Notes, Pencils, Highlighters

The second package I sent was a Halloween themed box. I included some fun Halloween themed things (they're mostly under the glow sticks)- such as, a mini strobe light (just for fun), glow sticks, fake spiders & a few other things.  However, I also put in some snacks he would like anytime like the Gripz Cheez-Its, mini cereal boxes, some gummies, stuff he could eat in a hurry or on the go. This box was my favorite out of all that I've sent.

Unfortunately, I didn't photograph all of the boxes I sent. But- heres a running list:
Thanksgiving
Valentine's Day
Jeremiah's Birthday
April Fool's Day (a box of jokes/silly things)
Easter

You're probably wondering why I didn't send a Christmas or New Year's Care Package, that's because we were lucky enough to be together over those two holidays! No care package needed!
Like I said, don't over do it. Try to include things they would want/need. Jeremiah loves loves gift cards. He's a big Panda Express fan. So occasionally, I'll mail him a $25 gift card. Although, I have sent several other types- Subway, (a quick sub is always easy & tasty), Applebee's (for when it's game time), Jack in the Box (close location for him). I try to normally send a $25 card, except for Applebee's, I'll send a $50 card for that one- it's more expensive & he can get at least three or four meals on a $50 card (which is about how many he can get with a $25 card for Panda Express, Subway, or Jack in the Box).

As far as mailing these boxes, I find it's cheapest to send them via FedEx. I love FedEx, they guarantee delivery & it's always there by then! I know, USPS & UPS guarantee them too, but FedEx has proven to actually get them there on that date (& they've got tracking numbers). I try to send them about four days early, depending upon the shipping method I've chosen. Normally, I can send them for the same price, whether it be a week or four days (usually goes by weight). However, when it comes to mailing letters & cards, I send them good ole' snail mail. I normally allow for a week to eight days for those to get to him. I can just about time it perfectly now!

I hope you've found this entry helpful! Please feel free to ask questions!

First Post

An Introduction:
Hi there, I'm Molly! I'm super excited to start this blog; based upon my own Long Distance Relationship (LDR) with my boyfriend Jeremiah. The purpose of this blog is to give those coming into an LDR a little first hand advice- and to provide insight to all who wonder just how we make it work! I'll include some of my own personal interests & other random things I may decide to blog on. I'm a very private person, but I have always enjoyed reading other blogs & finally decided to start my own. With that being said, this blog will not contain any personal information, photos of me or anything else I do not feel comfortable posting.
Jeremiah & I have been together for almost six years now (but doesn't feel like that long). When he decided to go to school on literally the opposite side of the country I knew it was going to be a rough three years. Fortunately, we are blessed enough to get to see each other over certain holidays & breaks.  I know experiencing an LDR can be hard, hard work- but in the end it is totally worth it. I know our distance has brought so much excitement back into our relationship, now the time I spend with him, I actually value. I hope to share some of my ideas with you guys, in hopes of making your own LDR just a tad bit easier! :)
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have!
